Seventh World Conference on Metaphysics (2018 Oct. 24-27)
Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca. c/La Compañía, 5. 37002 Salamanca (España)
It was an initiative of Fernando Rielo facing the worrying crisis in metaphysics, abandoned or dismissed by many, along with the rise of the “weak thinking” (pensiero debole), reductionism, relativism, exclusion and one track thinking. We should move towards a flourishing, creative metaphysics that would be a driving force for life, science and culture, building on the universal vocation of the human being to reflection and the search for meaning.
The World Conference on Metaphysics is based on one assumption: when human beings look for a basis and an orientation in their understanding of the various realities, they feel drawn to the ultimate field that gives origin to their thinking and acting. This vision is continually enriched by the new contributions of particular sciences and personal experience.
It is a unique event of its kind and, since it started in the year 2000, it has become an international forum for dialogue, where exponents of the most varied academic disciplines share a time of mutual enrichment, both from a human and an intellectual perspective, in a common search for the ultimate foundation of their respective sciences.
The first five editions have been held in Rome (2000, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012), organized by the Fondazione Idente di Studi e di Ricerca (FISER). As in 2015, the coming edition will be celebrated at the Pontifical University of Salamanca (Spain), in connection with the Fernando Rielo Chair of the same, and organized by the FISER, by its Spanish counterpart and by the Fernando Rielo Foundation.
