EIGHTH World Conference on Metaphysics
October 27-29, 2021
You may now register and submit proposals for presentations at the Eighth World Conference on Metaphysics.
In view of the ongoing pandemic situation, this edition of the World Conference will be held online.
This series of events was an initiative of Fernando Rielo in response to concerns about the crisis in metaphysics, including its abandonment and rejection, and the rise of “weak thought,” reductionism, relativism, exclusion, and “single thought.” We should move towards a flourishing, creative metaphysics which promotes life, science, and culture based on the universal vocation of the human being to reflection and the search for meaning.
The World Conference on Metaphysics starts from the assumption that human beings, in order to ground and orient their understanding of varied realities, feel impelled to conceive the deepest foundations of their thinking and acting. This vision is continually renewed by additional contributions from the particular sciences and personal experience.
This Conference is the only one of its kind, for, since its origin in 2000, it has become a unique international forum for dialogue where representatives of the most varied academic disciplines come together to enrich one other, in both human and intelectual terms, in their search for the ultimate ground of their respective sciences.
The first five editions were held in Rome (2000, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012), organized by the Fondazione Idente di Studi e di Ricerca (FISER). In 2015 and 2018 the Conference was held at the Pontifical University of Salamanca, Spain, where the Fernando Rielo Chair has also been established.
